Couples therapy

My name is Kate Iwi (she/her) and I’ve been working with high conflict relationships since 1992. I am a qualified clinical supervisor and Gottman Couples Psychotherapist, I have an MA in Child Psychotherapy, Dip Forensic Psychotherapy and MSc Psychology. I have spent a lot of my career working within and managing whole-family projects.

Approach: I work with high levels of transparency, safety, and integrity. I’ll help you expand your strengths and build a relationship that works for you, rather than following a preconceived idea of how a relationship should be.

I would like to help you to:

  • solve relationship conflicts honestly and peacefully.
  • develop a better understanding of yourself and your partner within this relationship: why you chose each other, what you each bring with you, why you clash in some ways, and why you work well in others.
  • learn to communicate better in ways that you can sustain post-therapy.
  • unlock your parenting potential by maximising your teamwork- no matter whether you are a birth family, a step family, or a fostering or adoptive family.
  • understand things that have gone wrong between you, work towards healing, and recognise that there may be an opportunity to create a deeper relationship out of adversity.
  • separate with integrity where this is the right thing for you and find ways to co-parent that work for the whole family.
